Did you know that KidsQuest Children’s Museum is a nonprofit??

Over the next few months we’re going to share with you what it means to be a nonprofit, who our community is, the influence our work has on the children and families in that community, plus how you out there reading this, are a key piece of the our puzzle.

The concept for KidsQuest Children’s Museum began in 1997 when a group of dedicated volunteers obtained 501(c)(3) status  in response to a survey in Eastside Parents Magazine identifying a children’s museum as the “most needed facility or service” on the Eastside. More than two decades later we are still committed to creating learning through the power of play and exploration that connects children to their communities and beyond.

Our vision remains, to be a trusted educational and cultural institution for all children and their families in the Puget Sound Region. This continued mission relies on donations from the community in addition to admission, programs, and membership fees. The financials for this year are currently 60% earned income and 40% contributed income.  When you sign up your child for one of our nearly 300 unique programs throughout the year, or you purchase an educational toy from our Museum Store, you are directly supporting the museum. This contributed income allows us to continue to provide access, programs, and outreach for children and families in the Puget Sound region. It gives us the opportunity to expand and enhance our exhibits, provides free programming on the museum floor, as well as programming for schools and local libraries, plus it helps with admission assistance and scholarships for low income families.

Did you know KidsQuest serves approximately 206,000 people per year, and has had over two million visitors since opening in 2005?!

“Yes! We have a fun and educational place to spend time as a family. This has been especially helpful with the poor weather this last season. My children are especially curious about science and this allows them to explore their interests and socialize in a safe space. THANK YOU!!!”- Scholarship recipient

KidQuest would not be the community asset it is without the dedicated support from partnerships, donors, our board of trustees as well as all the community members that allow us to be a part of their family.
