Wearable Art Week!

What are we up to?

Kids LOVE creating art...but they love it even more when they get to wear it! This week is Wearable Art Week at KidsQuest and we're working with beads, felt and our imagination.

We've received lots of calls from you guys about this program so here's the skinny:

  • Ongoing today through Sunday
  • We are beading, creating felt and making beautiful butterfly rings
  • No registration necessary

Beading...

Necklaces, bracelets and rings...what will YOU create with all the beads?

In this picture, Lauren is stringing beads on her new bracelet. You can't see it but she has a matching necklace with a beautiful pattern!

Felting...

Unfinished Felt
Okay, this is cool. Did you know that felt is the oldest fabric known to mankind?

Well, I didn't until Alison told me:)

To make felt, you start with wool sheared from sheep. It has been washed and combed (called "carding") and then is sometimes dyed...like in this picture.

Finished Felt
Wool fibers are covered with tiny scales (yuck!) and during the felting process these scales open and lock together. Using warm water, soap and lots of agitation, the fiber becomes interlocked and shrinks together.

These are four felt pieces that can now be manipulated into rings, bracelets, a purse...anything!

Come create art with us!

That was truly an amazing idea to share with us. i love kids wearing colorful wears and their dress should light weight ones. Hope those sheep woolen dress will be fantastic when is made.
