Storybook Theater Camp!

Monday – With the all important question, "Did you bring your imagination?" the fun began!

We learned each other's names through an animal game that we acted out, and then the class acted out other animals through an animal action song and chose their animal characters for the upcoming play. Each child was offered either wings, an apron or skirt depicting a number of animals including frogs and butterflies but for this class only two animals were chosen, bees and ladybugs and the whole play was developed around these two. (There was a monster thrown into the mix as well!)

Tuesday – The imagination continues!

We began developing the script and worked on lines for each character. We had fun creating magical bubbles and floating in and popping the bubbles.

Wednesday – Practice makes perfect & dancing is fun!

Time was spent on rehearsing the play as well as singing and dancing throughout the morning! We decorated treasure boxes in anticipation of tomorrow's treasure hunt!

Thursday – Special treasure hunt!

Each child searched throughout the museum and found 8 pieces of treasure. Each child received a magical wishing star and many wishes were made!! Today, we also made bug and bee headbands to add to our costumes for tomorrow's play.

Friday – Action!

One final rehearsal and we were ready to perform!! The class listened quietly to a story to help calm their nerves and focus them for the play. Friends and family showed up promptly at 11:30 and the class performed their original piece, "Bugs vs. Bees." The play was a hit and the kids got to show off some of the games and movement pieces we did throughout the week.

The class got to take home their costumes and a framed photo of the new friends they made this week!!

This looks like a great class. BUT Bellevue is a long drive. We are in Kent, Is there anything offered closer to our area. My guess is no, but I just had to ask. Thanks

Hi Lori - We only have one location (inside Factoria Mall), but the Storybook Theater teacher, Anne Zanatta-Kline, does teach elsewhere. We'd be happy to pass your information on to her if you're interested in hearing more!
