Storybook Theater Camp

Oh, the drama...

You know summer is coming to an end when camps are all over, classes are on the horizon, and it's almost time for the older kids to go back to school. As one last reminder of how much fun we had at summer camp this year, our Storybook Theater teacher, Anne Zanatta Kline, is going to give us the rundown on what happened in her August camp.

Monday

We welcomed seven very fun kids, including two who returned for another year of Storybook Theater! We got to know each other through some fun name games, warmed up our body with songs and movement activities, and confirmed that everyone brought their imagination to class. We talked about our play, and they each shared what kind of character they wanted to be in the upcoming show. The group also made magical kaleidoscopes. What a fun way to spend a Monday afternoon!

Tuesday

This group had some very fun and diverse ideas for their characters. I created a play that featured a shark, a mermaid, Superman, a knight, and a candy monster!! Sadly, two of the kids had to miss the final day of camp, but they served as wonderful audience members for rehearsals.

Wednesday

A full day of rehearsing the play, acting out some familiar tales, singing and dancing, and decorating the treasure boxes for Thursday’s treasure hunt.

Thursday

One highlight of this camp is the treasure hunt. The class had great fun searching for their gems. They created costume pieces that some of them wore for the play on Friday. We also spent time talking about their characters, working on movement, and working on vocal projection.

Friday

There was excitement in the air on Friday - performance day was finally here! Each student created their own set piece, and wore fun costumes. Family members arrived, and the class treated them to a delightful play. Another excellent week of Storybook Theater Camp!
