Stories from camp!

Two girls, two camps, one memorable summer! Five year old twin sisters, Taya and Atty attended two of our QuestCamps this summer and walked away with knowledge, confidence and pride in their accomplishments.

While Taya was in Nature Watch Camp she learned all sorts of things that prepared her for camping with her family the following weekend. Pop, Taya's mother, told me that upon arriving to Lake Cushman she wondered if it was going to rain and Taya explained, "Mama, it's not going to rain. Look at the sky, it's not gray and there are no clouds, and there's no strong wind." Sure enough, no rain came that night. And later when hiking in the woods Taya said, "Mama, there's no coyotes because I don't see any coyote tracks." Throughout the weekend Taya passed on her knowledge of nature, poisonous plants and firewood that she learned at camp. When talking about Nature Watch Camp, Pop exclaimed, "I can't believe how much she learned!"
Culinary Creations Camp
The following week Atty, Taya's twin sister, attended Culinary Creations Camp where she made pasta, icing to decorate cupcakes and learned how to use knives safely! Atty said, "Now I know how to cut the vegetables!" and she has her own little knife and cutting board to help at home. Each night Atty went home with a new creation to bake with her mother. Pop explained, "Atty was so excited to make her oatmeal cookies. She told me how to make a dip in the batter for the eggs so it wouldn't clump. Atty helped crack the eggs and mix it up! She is so proud of her apron too."

Pop said, "This is a lifelong experience for them. You gave these two girls confidence."
