Museum on the Move!
On the go with the KidsQuest van...
Have you spotted the brand new KidsQuest van yet? Be on the look out, because we are packing up and heading out to a school near you this summer! KidsQuest Children's Museum is on the move with our Field Trip to Go program, and we are filling up classrooms with fascinating ooey-gooey science experiments, inventing our own modes of transportation, investigating local wildlife and even doing our own prehistoric digs! What is a Field Trip to Go?
A Field Trip to Go is a science enrichment program that brings the excitement of the museum to your school or summer camp. With 17 options currently available, these programs can be tailored to fit your classroom, and are designed for Pre-K through 6th grade students. We go almost anywhere, and this year alone have been to Bellevue, Seattle, Wilkeson, Granger and beyond!
What is it Like?It is so much fun to arrive at a new school. The KidsQuest van is big, bright, and covered with all things science. When it pulls up, the children are immediately excited. As a Museum Educator, I make my way to the lucky classroom and the anticipation mounts as the children see my boxes of supplies and wonder, “What does she have in there?” Then their curiosity gets the better of them and they start in on the questions, which I answer with hands-on experiences that they can see, hear, smell and feel. Everything we do on a Field Trip to Go is tailored to the wonderful way in which children learn, and every minute is jam-packed with learning - the fun way.
But Field Trips to Go can't last forever. My hour-long visits go by quickly. Before I leave I give the teachers more ideas and experiences to do with their classrooms while I am gone. Usually I leave to a chorus of voices saying “Thank you!” and “Can you come back?” to which I always reply, “I sure hope so!” And then it's back to KidsQuest to get ready for my next Field Trip to Go!
