Imagination Explorers Camp
What an imagination you have!
Last week we celebrated summer with Imagination Explorers Camp. Our explorers spent the week getting to know each other and exploring their imaginations with circle time, discovery stations and free play in the museum.
Each day camp had a different theme. On Monday campers became Kings and Queens as they searched for lost gold, built a floating castle AND a castle with a bridge, and created capes and crowns.
Ahoy Mateys! On Tuesday the theme was Pirates. Our Imagination Explorers learned how to find rivers, lakes and oceans on maps; experimented with sinking and floating to find the perfect pirate ship; created treasure maps, telescopes, parrots and treasure bags; and learned about patterns with sand and gems.
On Wednesday campers drifted off to the wonderful world of fairies. They explored chemical reactions, made bubbling potions AND glittery potions, discovered what happens you make sparkling fairy paint spin, and danced with glowing fairy wands!
On Thursday our explorers rocketed off to Space (the final frontier!). They learned how to safely conduct experiments in space, used modeling clay to learn about planets, created star maps, discovered an alien race, and (of course) launched rockets!
The last day of camp was dedicated to Crazy Creatures. Campers created their own creatures and monster cities, discovered new types of dinosaurs, and concocted a slime monster!
What imaginations we have! Imagination Explorers Camp is now over, but we hope our Kings/Queens/Pirates/Fairies/Astronauts/Crazy Creatures will come back and visit us soon – maybe next week for Animal Explorers Camp!
