Exhibits 101: All Things Water FAQ's

With all the water finally here to give our lawns some much needed attention we thought we'd continue the conversation on our Waterways exhibits with some FAQ's. We love getting and answering questions about how the exhibits at KidsQuest work, so here are just a few that we frequently receive about Waterways.

How is the water cleaned?

We use an electronic cleaning system called an Ozonator that cycles clean water through filters and is monitored daily by staff. A small amount of chlorine is also added to the water to make sure that the pH levels are consistent-just like your area pool.

How are the exhibit components cleaned?

Once a month the entire exhibit is drained and each component is washed by KidsQuest's maintenance staff.

Is the water safe if my child drinks it?

Yes, we understand that children are likely to want to taste the water as part of their youthful curiosity and sensory development. This is fine and should not be cause for concern. We do not recommend allowing your child to sit and "drink" the water.

It looks as though there is moss and algae growing on the rocks.

We're glad you think so-but don't worry, it was designed to look that way! Our amazing team of exhibit designers and fabricators wanted to give the rocks and stream a more authentic feel so we added moss and algae to help bring the outdoors in.

What happens if my child overflows the stream?

Sounds like fun! If your child overflows the stream we encourage you to talk about how they built a great dam to block the water. Looks like your budding engineer is having a fabulous time!

We'd want to hear from you!
