Bellevue Arts Museum artsfair is this weekend!

Here are some things to know before you go.

KidsQuest, along with over 325 organizations and vendors and more than 350,000 community members, will be attending the Bellevue Arts Museum artsfair this weekend. The artsfair has been a summer staple for 63 years-longer than the Bellevue Arts Museum that we all know so well! So, if the Bellevue Arts Museum didn't start the artsfair then how did it come to be?

Sixty-three years ago the Pacific Northwest Arts and Crafts Association was founded with two goals in mind: to promote the local artists and crafts people and to establish a cultural and educational center serving Bellevue and East King County. The first event was an outdoor Art Fair presented in Bellevue Square and the fair has been held in the same location ever since. Today the Bellevue Arts Museum artsfair is the largest and most prominent art event in the Northwest and KidsQuest is excited to be a part of it this year!
Tie-Dye Art
KidsQuest will have a booth in the kidsfair area, which is located inside Bellevue Arts Museum, and we'll be going crazy with Tie-Dye! Kids will use their own experiences and draw from the artsy environment around them to dab their way to colorful creations! They will delight in watching colors blend and swirl to create distinctive works of art.

Taking children to such a large fair can be a daunting task so we've put together some "Things to know before you go" to help keep everyone happy, safe and having fun!

  • Mornings are the best time to visit
  • Go with a full stomach
  • Dress multiple children in the same/similar colors
  • Remember what your child is wearing
  • Tie balloons on wrists or strollers
  • Review the fair's map to locate the bathrooms
  • What to bring?
    • Water
    • Snacks
    • Sunscreen
    • Change of clothes/extra diapers
    • Band-aids or a small first-aid kit
  • In case you get separated
    • Review your first and last name
    • Identify a meeting place upon arrival
    • Point out people with credentials, i.e. Police Officers, Security Guards, Event Staff, etc.

Have fun and enjoy the sunshine!
