Bank on It!

Make teaching your kids about money easy!

Children’s spending power is on the increase each year, yet they lack guidance on what to do with that money. According to Jump$tart Coalition, just 26% of parents feel prepared to teach their kids about personal finances. KeyBank Foundation wants to ensure that number rises in the coming years and are showing their support for educating children about managing money responsibly by sponsoring our Financial Literacy Initiative.

One part of the Initiative is installing a temporary exhibit called Bank on It! in our flexible exhibit space and creating programs geared toward teaching children and parents about fiscal responsibility. Bank On It! is a resource for adults to learn about and to introduce children to financial literacy and includes dynamic activities that encourage families to explore strategies for saving, spending and sharing money. Adults and children comparison shop, strive to stick to a budget, practice saving for something special and consider how sharing money or time impacts others. Bank on It! is a fun and engaging way for parents and children to learn how to talk about money and to see possibilities for financial planning.

Scout the Squirrel, the exhibit ambassador, welcomes visitors and shares a variety of spending, saving and sharing experiences through interactive games. Scout makes dealing with money enjoyable for kids by learning how to save, spend and share his acorns along with you.

Bank on It! will be on display at KidsQuest through September and Financial Literacy activities and workshops will be offered throughout the year. Check our calendar for details.
