Art Explorers Camp

I love art. It’s perfect for children, giving them the chance to use their imaginations, create, problem solve, count, work on their fine motor skills, learn about color chemistry, and so much more! It’s limitless what you can do with a little paper and paint, or glue and recyclables.

ArtDrawingIn last week's Art Explorers Camp, children ages 3-5 learned about color, shape, texture, sculpture and wearable art.

On Monday, after getting to know each other, campers created crazy spin-art, experimented with color on the light table, mixed colored water using eye droppers, sorted buttons by color, and painted art smocks in preparation for the rest of the week.

On Tuesday campers explored shape with gak, pipe cleaners, pattern blocks and a mystery box (to explore shape using only their sense of touch!). They even painted frames to preserve their camp memories!

On Wednesday campers created texture collages, explored the volume and texture of macaroni and sand, and painted wooden boxes.

ArtClayOn Thursday campers went crazy with sculpture. They created zany sculptures from pipe cleaners, feathers, play dough, packing peanuts, real clay and more. They also built with Kapla Blocks and painted three dimensional pigs and snakes!

On the last day of class campers created crowns, beaded necklaces and bracelets, crafted capes, and decorated their own chalkboards. And, if that wasn’t enough, they also had storytime and playtime in the museum (every single day of the week!).

I’m pretty sure there are more than a few Picassos hanging on refrigerator doors this week, and I hope there will be many more to come from our young artists (and architects, and engineers, and builders...and who knows what else?).

This camp was fantastic! My little one enjoyed coming every day. Thank you to Ms. Allison and all of her helpers. Nicely done.
